The event will consider and discuss:
· Is anyone truly "unreachable"?

· How can we encourage young people to learn their way through the recession?
· Does multi-disciplinary working really work?
· Does exclusion from school mean exclusion from society?
2. Learning to Learn: the voice of the learner
Date: 10th December 2009
Time: 10am 3pm
Venue: Newcastle
Attachment:
Learning to Learn.doc
At the Campaign for Learning we believe that effective
learning is not something that can be done to someone: it is a social process, a
partnership where the learner is at the centre. However the pressures of
targets, assessment and accreditation often take the emphasis away from the
learner and the learning process. Privileging 'Learner voice' is integral to a
partnership approach to learning and must be genuinely developed, rather than
being merely a box ticking exercise. Learning to Learn is a mechanism to just
this, so join us at our upcoming conference which will consider the issues.

This practical workshop uses case
studies and legal frameworks to look at the statutory responsibilities of
organisations in relation to discipline, grievance and dismissals. It will
demonstrate the difference between discipline and incapability, and give
participants the tools to ensure positive outcomes from negative experiences.
The aim of the session is to develop a proactive communication style that
reduces the need for formal dispute resolution in the workplace. It will provide
practical strategies to help you deal with these issues in a constructive,
supportive and legal manner, whilst operating within the needs of your
organisation. See attached for further information.
